Hello! I'm Dan Briston and I'm a British photographer from the East of England, currently living and working in the North West. The Lake District, to be precise. I work primarily in a documentary format, telling stories in long-form projects, such the UK Northern Soul Scene. However, my camera has taken me travelling to document film production, create social media, product photography and commercial content in a studio setting, among other things.
I'm interested in the modern working class experience and how it has been shaped by its predecessors, as well as subculture, conflict and the military, energy and sustainability and of course, where these interests cross over is where I'm most enthusiastic.
I also really love to write about contemporary photography on my blog Another Observer which I created with the ambition of bringing the discourse of modern photography to an audience that may struggle with the high-art dialogue and terminology that often surrounds exhibitions and publications.
